Most cookbook stands live in a drawer because nobody wants to look at them. Cardamomkeep started with a simple question: what if the stand was the nicest thing on the counter?

1Where the name comes from

Cardamom is the small green pod that turns up in cinnamon buns, chai, rice puddings and Sunday cakes: humble, fragrant and a little bit special. A keep is the part of a house where good things are stored safely. Put them together and you have what we wanted to make: a keeper for the recipes you come back to again and again.

2What we make

One product, done carefully. A folding bamboo cookbook and tablet stand with an adjustable back and two page holders, and on its front panel, one of our own original designs. When a book is open on it, it's working. When it isn't, it's a piece of art propped against the backsplash.

3Three collections

• Bake Sale: pies, buns, layer cakes and the tins and tools of a baker's kitchen.
• Kitchen Garden: tomatoes on the vine, herbs, berries, squash and everything the garden sends indoors.
• Pantry Shelf: spice jars, teatime china, preserves, copper pans and the well-stocked cupboard.

Every design is original artwork drawn for Cardamomkeep, and each one is printed on a single stand style at a single price, $39.99, so you can choose purely by what makes you smile.

4Who we make it for

For the cook who has a grandmother's handwriting tucked into a favourite book, who follows recipes on a tablet as often as on paper, and who thinks the kitchen deserves a little beauty too. We hope yours earns a permanent spot by the stove.
